MUNDANE OBJECT
ARTS 412 – SOFTWARE II
FALL 2019
BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY (SUNY)
HARPUR COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

Students had to find a creative use for a mundane (lacking interest or excitement, dull) object, turn it into a real product and package it. A few examples of mundane objects students could consider could be rocks, water, paper clips, rubber bands, etc. Students’ concepts could be experimental, whimsical, serious etc.

Ultimately, the chose concept should allow the student to create an interesting product, name (logo/symbol) and package design (form). Depending on the student’s concept, he/she/they may want to think of the specific project as a series (multiples).

This project is not about sales and profit margins, yet the students’ final solution must have the potential to be seen in a retail store. Students must determine the audience for this product and consequently where it may be seen, sold or offered.
